The 4 wheeled Mountfield SP53 has many great features including folding handles, single point cutting height adjustment and 60L fabric grass bag. This style grass collector allows the air to circulate through the cuttings. The SP53 is a power driven or self-propelled lawnmower with a fixed single speed designed for lawns of approx. 50m x 50m. You can choose the best cutting height from the 5 options which can be adjusted from 27 – 90mm. Start at the highest setting (90mm) then work down to the lowest (27mm) for the best cut and finish to your lawn. The cutting height is adjusted with a single lever so is quick and easy. You can get even greater versatility from the mower by fitting the mulch plug. Once the plug is fitted into the rear of the machine the grass will be cut into extra fine pieces which are blown down onto the lawn. They will virtually disappear and be absorbed into the soil. The larger diameter (280mm) rear wheels also make this mower better in longer grass. Both the front and rear wheels are grooved with ball bearings. The Mountfield ST170 engine offers increased power compared to the other Mountfield engines in their Universal range. A bottle of 4-stroke engine oil will be included with the mower to get you started. You then only need to fill with fresh petrol and off you go. Always use fresh petrol in your engine as it can begin to go stale within 4 – 6 weeks. Stale fuel will affect the performance and running quality of the engine and can stop it working altogether. Only buy as much as you need and don’t store big quantities. Alternatively mix your fresh petrol with a fuel additive which can keep it fresh for up to 3 years. These additives won’t revive stale fuel so you need to mix together with the fresh petrol before you add to the fuel tank.
